NOPD Investigates Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday (Feb. 6) in the 1100 block of Marigny Street.

At around 3:30 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered one adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are in the process of gathering information that will help them identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No further information is currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
