The NOPD is requesting the assistance of the public in locating a subject seen on video surveillance in commission of a package theft in the 2200 block of Jefferson Avenue on January 17, 2019.

At about 2:50 p.m., the pictured unknown black male was seen opening the victim's package that had been delivered and left on the victim’s porch. The subject removed the items from inside of the package and placed them inside of a black backpack before fleeing the scene on a bicycle with the stolen items.

This subject is known to frequent the intersection of Freret Street and Valence Street, and detectives believe he may also be following package delivery trucks on his bicycle.

Surveillance video of this incident can be viewed above.

Anyone with information on this incident or the depicted subject is asked to contact NOPD Second District detectives at 504-658-6020, or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
