The NOPD is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of an adult male Sunday afternoon.
Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting around 3:01 p.m. in the 6400 block of the I-10 Service Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is currently available. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine an official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
