NOPD Arrests Suspect in Fifth District Homicide

The NOPD has arrested a subject believed to be the perpetrator of a Fifth District homicide.

 

Samuel Harris (B/M DOB: 6/13/1999) was arrested January 3, 2019 and charged in connection with a homicide that occurred December 30, 2018 near the intersection of Mandeville and North Derbigny streets.

 

On December 30, 2018, Fifth District officers responded to a call reporting shots fired at the intersection of Mandeville and North Derbigny streets. When they arrived, they discovered female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to her side. The victim was transported to an area hospital by EMS.

 

The victim, a 34-year-old black female, succumbed to injuries sustained in the incident on December 31, 2018.

 

Through an investigation, NOPD Homicide detectives developed Harris as the suspected perpetrator.

 

Harris was arrested and booked with second degree murder at the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

 

Harris was already incarcerated on unrelated charges of possession of a stolen automobile, being a felon in possession of a firearm, simple robbery, and probation violations.
