Suspect Surrenders to NOPD in Shooting of Pregnant Woman

NOPD Seventh District officers with assistance from the Violent Offenders Warrant Squad Unit arrested Jamar Lewis (DOB: 01-16-94) yesterday after he reportedly shot a pregnant victim in the leg.

The incident happened on January 14, 2018.  Lewis allegedly shot a pregnant victim in the 8500 block of Huntington Park Drive. The shooting was reportedly a result of an argument between the pregnant female and Lewis’ girlfriend whom the victim had hired to do her makeup. The victim was hosting her baby shower the same day she was shot in the leg.

Lewis turned himself in to VOWS Unit officers on January 24, 2018.

He was booked with two counts of aggravated second-degree battery and illegal carrying of a weapon.

Anyone with any other information on the arrested subject should contact any Seventh District detective at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
