Suspect Identified in Aggravated Assault Incident on Hayne Boulevard

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Nasir Saleem (DOB: 12-26-1998) in connection with an aggravated assault with a firearm incident that occurred on January 18, 2018 at the intersection of Hayne Boulevard and Dorsett Street.

At about 6:44 p.m., an individual allegedly fired a semi-automatic rifle multiple times in the direction of two victims at the location in an attempt to cause bodily harm. The shooter then allegedly fled in an unknown direction in a red two-door Honda Civic with tinted windows.

Investigation into the incident has led detectives to positively identify Saleem as the perpetrator and to obtain a warrant for Saleem’s arrest. When located, Saleem will be arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one charge of illegal discharge of a firearm.
