NOPD Arrests Suspect in Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery Incident

On January 5, 2017, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested Raymond Shaw (DOB: 07-02-1963) in connection with an armed robbery incident that occurred on June 5, 2017.

The victim told police that he was in an alley in the 8200 block of Oak Street when an unknown black male approached and demanded the victim’s money. The victim said he refused, before the perpetrator allegedly attacked him with a knife. The victim said he fought off the perpetrator, but the individual was able to reach into the victim’s back pocket and take his wallet before fleeing the scene. The victim suffered multiple lacerations to the body and a bite mark to his left shoulder in the altercation.

As investigation into the incident progressed, detectives were able to positively identify Shaw as the perpetrator and obtain a warrant for his arrest.

Shaw was located in the 400 block of Soraparu Street on January 5, where he was arrested. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office for armed robbery and aggravated battery.
