NOPD Investigates First District Traffic Fatality

The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that claimed the life on an adult male early Tuesday morning (February 25, 2020) near the intersection of St. Bernard Avenue and North Miro Street.

At or around 4:40 a.m., First District officers responded to a call of an accident with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim who had been ejected from the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the victim lost control of the vehicle for reasons unknown and struck a nearby tree, causing his vehicle to flip over several times. The victim was then ejected from the vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

NOPD Traffic Fatality Division is in charge of the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6208 with any additional information.
