NOPD Investigates Fifth District Homicide

NOPD Investigates Fifth District Homicide

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of an adult male Friday morning (Feb. 21) in the Fifth District.

At or around 10:15 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to a medical call near Florida Avenue and Gordon Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male at the location. Officers then notified the homicide unit of this incident. Upon further investigation, investigators learned that the victim suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. There are no further details available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
