NOPD Makes Arrest in Mardi Gras Disturbance, Reinforcing Zero-Tolerance for Disorderly Behavior

New Orleans - The New Orleans Police Department’s Sixth District is seeking six additional suspects in connection with a violent altercation that occurred during Mardi Gras festivities.

On February 7, 2026, Sixth District officers responded to a large fight involving multiple individuals in the 2100 block of St. Charles Avenue along the parade route. During the incident, one victim was stabbed.

Through investigation, Sixth District Detectives identified the nine individuals involved and obtained arrest warrants for disturbing the peace by engaging in fistic encounters (LA R.S. 14:103(A)(1)). Detectives also secured an additional arrest warrant for Syjuan Chriss for two counts of aggravated second-degree battery (LA R.S. 14:34.7).

As of today, Syjuan Chriss, Christopher Kirk, and Kendall Tuggles have been arrested in connection with this incident. Detectives are actively working to locate the remaining six suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.

While these individuals are wanted in connection with a fight, this initiative is about prevention. In that general vicinity where this occurred has a history of violence, including a prior mass shooting that injured multiple people. We are taking a proactive stance and stopping disorder before it escalates into gunfire. Fighting during Mardi Gras will not be dismissed as minor behavior. Those involved will be identified and held accountable.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
