The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality incident that occurred overnight on February 5, 2026, on Interstate 10 West at the Little Woods exit.

At about 11:32 p.m., officers responded to the location and located an unknown and unresponsive subject in the roadway. The victim was declared deceased on scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit investigators determined that the unknown victim had been traveling westbound on Interstate 10 when their vehicle collided with an unknown object. The victim then exited their vehicle for unknown reasons and began walking along the interstate when they were subsequently struck by a passing vehicle. Tragically, the victim was then struck by additional passing vehicles. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office will identify the victim upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
