NOPD Makes Arrest in Seventh District Homicide

The NOPD has arrested Robert Aguillard, Black male DOB: 11/29/2003, in connection with a homicide that occurred in the Seventh District on January 27, 2024.

At about 7:44 p.m., on the date, Fifth District officers responded to a shooting in the 14,000 block of Chef Menteur Highway. Upon arrival they discovered the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS and was later identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner as 42-year-old Cody Abbott.

Through investigation, detectives identified Aguillard as the alleged perpetrator in this homicide.

An arrest warrant for Aguillard was obtained on February 20, 2024 on charges of second degree murder.  He was arrested this morning (February 21, 2024), and booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. 

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
