NOPD Arrests Suspects in Investigation of December 2022 Homicide

The NOPD has arrested Henry Tillman (black male, DOB: 11-17-2003) and Jamyron Caffrey (black male, DOB: 06-22-2004) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on December 31, 2022, in the 400 block of North Carrollton Avenue.

At about 11:02 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a shooting at intersection of Conti and David streets. Upon arrival, officers located a male gunshot wound victim in a nearby parking lot the 400 block of North Carrollton Avenue. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased. The perpetrators also reportedly carjacked a victim and used that victim’s vehicle to flee the scene.

On January 3, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office positively identified the victim as 17-year-old Oliver Brown and determined cause of death to be from a gunshot wound.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified both Tillman and Caffrey as being involved in this incident and obtained arrest warrants for each. Both subjects were found to already be in custody in the Orleans Parish Justice Center on separate charges.

Tillman was re-booked on Feb. 1 on one count each of second-degree murder, armed robbery, and obstruction of justice.

Caffrey was re-booked today (Feb. 2) on one count each of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, armed robbery and obstruction of justice.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Det. Matthew Riffle at 504-658-5300.
