NOPD VOWS Arrests Suspect in Seventh District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Tyrin Calloway (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-07-2002) in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting on October 17, 2021 in the 3900 block of Downman Road.

At about 4:55 a.m. on October 17, an unknown male suspect reportedly opened fire outside of a location, resulting in two victims sustaining gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Through investigation, NOPD Seventh District detectives developed and positively identified Calloway as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

VOWS officers located Calloway today in the 14700 block of Chef Menteur Highway and arrested him without incident.

During the arrest, NOPD Seventh District detectives executed search warrants on two residences Calloway was known to occupy and confiscated the pictured firearms and accessories. In addition, VOWS also recovered a blue 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck that had been reported stolen in an incident in Jefferson Parish.

Calloway was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for two counts of aggravated second-degree battery, discharging a firearm during a violent crime, illegal possession of a stolen automobile and on an outstanding warrant from Jefferson Parish.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
