NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals today (February 4, 2022) arrested James D. Patton (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-04-1983) in the investigation of a homicide on January 9, 2022 in the 900 block of Conti Street.

At around 10:27 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim suffering with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

As investigation into the incident progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Patton as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder.

VOWS and the U.S. Marshals located and apprehended Patton today in the 2600 block of Cleveland Avenue without incident. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center accordingly.
