NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (February 9, 2022) at the intersection of Old Gentilly Road and France Road that left one person deceased and another injured.

At about 3:45 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers  discovered a vehicle in the intersection occupied by two males. The driver of the vehicle, identified as an adult male, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was declared deceased at the scene. The passenger, identified as a juvenile teenage male, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported via EMS to a local hospital.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
