NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (February 25, 2022) in the 6300 block of Chef Menteur Highway that left one person deceased.

At about 9:06 p.m. NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located and unresponsive male victim on scene having sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased. At that time, the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
