On February 7, 2022, the NOPD arrested Tyree D. Conerly (pictured, black male, DOB: 06-08-2002), the second suspect arrested in the investigation of the homicide of 12-year-old Derrick Cash on January 3, 2022 in the 14000 block of Michoud Boulevard.
Conerly surrendered to police on February 7 at NOPD Headquarters. He was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.
At about 9:43 a.m. on January 3, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call for service about a male down at the location. Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive male victim down beside a black SUV. EMS arrived and pronounced the victim on the scene. The incident was later reclassified as a homicide.
On January 5, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim in this incident as Cash.
Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Conerly as a perpetrator in this incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Conerly on February 6 on one count of second-degree murder.
Tyrese M. Harris Sr. (not pictured) – who was already in police custody facing charges in a separate incident – was re-booked on February 6 with one count of second-degree murder in connection with this investigation.
