NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide today (February 20, 2021) in the 1600 block of 8th Street that left two people dead.

At about 6:23 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two male subjects lying in the driveway of a residence and having sustained gunshot wounds. One victim was declared deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
