NOPD is investigating a homicide that took place in the 7500 block of Morel Street.
This evening, February 16, 2021 at around 9:52 p.m., Seventh district officers were dispatched to the 7500 block of Morel Street to a call of shots fired, which was later upgraded to an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive unidentified male inside of a vehicle. The victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s) and was later pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.
The investigation is on-going and detectives are attempting to determine a motive and a suspect(s) in the incident.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death.
