NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Jamon Edwards (pictured, male: DOB: 04-21-1992), who was wanted as the suspected perpetrator of a homicide on January 20, 2021 in the 1600 block of France Street.

At about 9:54 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim inside of a residence having sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Edwards as the suspected perpetrator in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Edwards turned himself in to NOPD detectives on February 9. He was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count each of second-degree murder, domestic abuse – child endangerment and simple criminal damage to property.

Anyone with any additional information regarding this incident is asked to call NOPD Homicide Det. Aaron Harrelson at 504-658-5300.
