Suspect Identified in Aggravated Assault in Eighth District

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Jordan Jerel Bailey (DOB: 05-15-1996) in the investigation of an aggravated assault that occurred at the intersection of Elk Place and Canal Street on February 9, 2019.

The victim told police that at about 10:30 a.m. she was waiting for a bus at the intersection of Elk Place and Canal Street when she observed a black four-door vehicle pull up at the intersection, driven by a known black female with a known black male in the front passenger seat and an unknown black male in the rear passenger side seat. The victim said that when the vehicle stopped in front of her, the two male passengers exited and pointed handguns at her, with the rear passenger allegedly stating intent to kill her. The victim said she then boarded the bus and rode to her residence.

As investigation into this incident progressed, NOPD Eighth District detectives were able to positively identify Bailey as the male subject in the front passenger seat of the vehicle in this incident. Detectives then obtained a warrant for Bailey’s arrest on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

The female driver and second male subject have not yet been identified in this incident.
