NOPD Investigating Homicide in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours today (February 28, 2019) in the 8400 block of Oleander Street.

At about 12:52 a.m., NOPD Second District Officers responded to the area for a call of shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered an unknown black male victim unresponsive on the front porch of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. No further details are available at this time. The scene has since been cleared.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
