NOPD Investigates Homicide on Austerlitz Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Austerlitz Street

The NOPD Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of an unidentified adult male victim.

Sixth District officers responded to a call of a male down at around 7:04 a.m. in the 600 block of Austerlitz Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim bleeding from the head inside a pickup truck. The victim was later pronounced dead on the scene. The injury was later learned to be a gun shot wound to the head and the incident was determined to be a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
