NOPD Investigates First District Traffic Fatality
The NOPD is investigating an auto accident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist Sunday night (Feb. 10).
At or around 9:06 p.m., NOPD Traffic Fatality Investigators responded to a call of an accident with injury near I-10 West and South Galvez Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim was involved in a single vehicle crash at the location.
Through further investigation, officers determined that the motorcyclist was traveling on the elevated portion of I-10 West, when for unknown reasons, struck the guardrail and landed on the ground level.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name upon completion of autopsy and notification of family. There are no additional details available at this time.
