Suspects Arrested in Double Shooting on Union Street

Jerald Bordere (DOB: 07-21-1999), along with two family members, was arrested in St. Bernard Parish yesterday (February 26, 2018) in connection with a double shooting in the 700 block of Union Street in New Orleans on February 13, 2018.

At about 3:17 p.m. on February 13, a fight reportedly occurred among a group of approximately 10 individuals on Union Street near Carondelet Street. One man in the group allegedly produced a handgun and fired into the group, striking one victim in the leg and a second victim in the head area. Both victims were transported to an area hospital by EMS. With patrols throughout the area, NOPD was in position to respond immediately to the incident and secure the scene.

Based on a report from a citizen who told police they recognized Jerald Bordere from media reports, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s deputies detectives apprehended Jerald Bordere, his brother Christopher Bordere (DOB: 04-07-1997) and mother Tahitian Bordere (DOB not available) at about 11 p.m. on February 26, after the three were located at a Holiday Inn hotel in Chalmette, La.

Jerald Bordere was arrested on scene and booked by St. Bernard Parish as a fugitive on two counts of attempted murder from the NOPD, and also faces charges of illegal carrying of a firearm at a parade/during commission of a violent crime and illegal use of a firearm in the Union Street incident.

Christopher and Tahitian Bordere were each arrested on scene and booked by St. Bernard Parish for accessory after the fact to attempted second degree murder.

During a warranted search of the fugitives’ hotel room with NOPD Eighth District detectives present, investigators found two handguns - one of which was reported stolen out of Jefferson Parish. Each of the three suspects was additionally booked for possession of a stolen firearm. Additional items confiscated in the search were released to the NOPD as evidence.

NOPD detectives also obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher Bordere on two charges of principle to attempted murder, as he was determined to have been at the scene of the double shooting on Union Street. St. Bernard Parish deputies placed an additional hold on Christopher Bordere as a fugitive on that warrant.

All three individuals will be transferred to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked accordingly.
