Suspect Arrest in Sexual Battery Case Near Tulane University

The multi-agency investigation into a series of sexual battery complaints has resulted in the arrest of a suspect in the Second District.

 

On Sunday, February 25, 2018, at approximately 8 a.m., a Special Victims Section detective, officers from the NOPD’s Second District, as well as members of the Tulane University Police Department canvassed the perimeter of Tulane University in an attempt to locate, identify, and continue investigations involving recent sexual battery complaints in that area.

 

During the operation, Tulane police officers observed a subject near the intersection of South Carrollton Avenue and Burthe Street, riding a blue cruiser bicycle.

 

The bicycle fit the description of on used in the commission of multiple sexual batteries near Tulane University.

 

The subject was detained and identified as Kendrick Shorts, (B/M DOB: 02/20/1974).

 

Shorts was detained and later transported to NOPD headquarters.

 

Shorts was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery and booked into the Orleans Parish jail.

 

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
