NOPD Searching for Subject in Third District Aggravated Assault

The NOPD is searching for a subject in connection with an aggravated assault in the Third District.

The victim told police that on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at about 3:43 a.m., he was asleep inside his van in the parking lot in the 4300 block of Chef Menteur Highway when he observed an unknown black male attempting to unlock the chain securing three bicycles to the rear of his van.

The victim exited the vehicle to confront the subject.

At that point, the subject produced a black semi-automatic pistol and threatened to kill the victim if he did not get back into the vehicle.

The perpetrator got into a dark or gray colored Chevrolet sedan with a temporary license plate and fled the scene.

The vehicle is missing hubcaps on the front driver and passenger side and has an inoperable tail/brake light on the driver’s side.

Anyone with information on this incident or the identity and whereabouts of the pictured subject is asked to contact Third District Detective John Wild or any on Third District detective at 504-658-6030 or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-822-1111 or toll free at 1-877-903-7867.
