NOPD Searching for Stolen Vehicle, Suspects in Armed Carjacking in Second District

The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public in locating a vehicle reportedly stolen during an armed carjacking incident near the intersection of Vendome Place and Walmsley Avenue on February 22, 2018.

The victim told police that at about 5 a.m., he was driving his gray 2002 Acura TL bearing Florida license plate #BZRE83 when he stopped at a stop sign at the intersection. At that time, an unknown male wearing an unknown color long-sleeved shirt and colorful mask opened the front driver’s side door. The subject then allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the victim exit the vehicle. The victim complied and, at that time, the suspect and a second male also attired in unknown clothing and a colorful mask entered the victim’s vehicle. The two then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

A picture is included of a vehicle similar to the vehicle reported stolen in this incident, but not the actual vehicle involved in the incident.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Second District detectives at 504-658-6020. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
