NOPD Arrests Suspect on Gun, Drug, Stolen Vehicle Charges

The NOPD has arrested Quang Nguyen (DOB: 12-24-1978) on multiple charges stemming from a traffic stop in the Seventh District.

At about 4:31 a.m., Seventh District officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Alcee Fortier Street and Chef Menteur Highway. During the stop, the officers detained the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Nguyen. Officers also observed a shotgun as well as narcotics in plain view inside of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers also discovered a handgun under the driver’s seat of the vehicle, which was later found to have been reported stolen.

Nguyen was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and traffic-related charges.
