Auto Theft Suspect Wanted by NOPD

The NOPD is seeking information that can assist in locating and identifying a suspect wanted in an auto theft that occurred on February 24, 2018 in the 6800 block of Parc Brittany.

The victim said that at about 9:30 p.m. on February 23, he had parked and locked his black Chevrolet SUV bearing a temporary tag at the location. When he returned to the location the next morning at about 6:30 a.m., he found the vehicle missing. The victim said he believed he possibly dropped the car key while carrying bags from the vehicle on the previous evening.

The next day, February 25, the pictured unknown subject was seen parking the vehicle in the parking lot of the Discount East store in the 4900 block of Downman Road and entering the store, while another male and two females remained inside the vehicle. The subject purchased several items from the store and returned to the vehicle. At that time, the subject was confronted by a family member of the victim who recognized the vehicle as belonging to the victim. When confronted, all four of the subjects exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot heading south on Downman Road. The vehicle has since been recovered and returned to the victim.

The subject, described as a black male standing about 5’3” and weighing about 140 pounds wearing dark colored clothing, is wanted for possession of stolen property for being found in possession of the vehicle.

Anyone with information on the above wanted subject or on the auto theft incident is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070.
