The NOPD’s Violent Offenders Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals today (December 19, 2024) arrested Jalil Williams (black male, DOB: 07-14-1996) in the NOPD’s investigation of a homicide that occurred on December 16, 2024, in the 8000 block of Dwyer Road.
At about 12:19 p.m. on December 16, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to the location after receiving notification of an unresponsive person lying in the road next to a work truck. Upon arrival officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he died a short time later.
The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Adam Brown.
Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives determined the homicide occurred during the commission of an attempted armed robbery and identified Williams as the alleged perpetrator. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Williams on one count of second-degree murder.
At about 5:45 a.m. today, NOPD VOWS and the U.S. Marshals located and arrested Williams without incident in the 1000 block of Loyola Avenue. Williams will be booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
