On December 5, 2024, the NOPD arrested Darrell Fairley Jr. (black male, DOB: 05-12-2006) and Cornelius G. Tillman (black male, DOB: 12-28-2004) in its investigation of a double homicide that occurred on November 30, 2024, in the 6700 block of Tara Lane.

Shortly before 4:25 p.m. on November 30, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male gunshot wound victims. New Orleans EMS arrived on scene and declared both victims to be deceased.

On December 4, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 18-year-old Wayne Orsin and 21-year-old Rashada Richardson. Preliminary cause of death for both victims was determined to be from gunshot-related injuries.

As investigation into the incident progressed, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Fairley and Gillman as the perpetrators in this incident. Detectives then obtained warrants for the arrest of both suspects, each on two counts of second-degree murder.

On December 5, both subjects were located and arrested without incident. Both Fairley and Tillman were then booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
