NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours today (December 12, 2022) in the 900 block of Louisa Street that left one person dead.

At about 12:37 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to the location and located an unresponsive adult male found to have sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased on scene. The incident was then reclassified as a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
