The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred this morning (December 4, 2022) near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Tricou Street that left one person dead and a second injured.
At about 5:04 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims inside of a crashed Honda Accord. The driver of the vehicle was transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, while the passenger of the vehicle was declared deceased on scene.
Through further investigation, it was determined that the Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on North Claiborne Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the travel lane and crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler trailer parked on the shoulder of the road.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No additional information is currently available.
