NOPD Quickly Arrests Suspect in Fatal Stabbing

The NOPD has arrested Marcus Connelly (pictured, DOB: 10-24-1983) in the investigation of a homicide by cutting that occurred on December 10, 2019.

At about 8:17 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by cutting in the 1900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male victim was stabbed to the neck area outside of a retail store. The victim relocated inside the store by the front shopping basket area, before collapsing near the front door. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Connelly was detained at the scene and questioned by detectives. After investigation, Connelly was positively identified as the perpetrator, and detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest. Connelly was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for second degree murder.
