NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (December 2, 2019) at the intersection of Dwyer Road and Wilson Avenue, leaving one person dead.

At about 12:40 p.m, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Chef Menteur Highway on a call of aggravated battery by shooting.  Upon further investigation, detectives determined that unknown suspect(s) reportedly fired at two people inside of a truck at the intersection of Dwyer Road and Wilson Avenue.  As the victims tried to leave the scene, the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, crashing on Chef Mentuer Highway.  When officers arrived, they discovered a male subject believed to have been a passenger in the vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver had no reported injuries.

No further information is available at this time.  The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim’s name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
