The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (December 25, 2019) in the 6800 block of West Coronet Court.
At about 9:35 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim lying in the front yard of a residence and with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was pronounced dead the scene.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
No further details are available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
