NOPD Investigating a Fatal Stabbing on Tchoupitoulas Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred today (December 10, 2019) in the 1900 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.

At about 8:17 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by cutting. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male victim was stabbed to the neck area outside of a retail store. The victim relocated inside the store by the front shopping basket area, before collapsing near the front door. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

 

Officers detained an adult male subject, person of interest, he was transported to the NOPD homicide office to be interviewed.


No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
