NOPD Identifies Suspect in Second District Vehicle Burglary

NOPD Identifies Suspect in Second District Vehicle Burglary

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Derrick Barber (pictured, DOB: 05-26-1970) in connection with the investigation of a vehicle burglary that occurred on October 8, 2019.

On the aforementioned date, a vehicle burglary occurred in the 2200 block of Upperline Street during which two checks were reported stolen. On the following day – October 9 – one of the checks was reportedly cashed at a bank in the amount of $300.00. On October 11, a black male reportedly attempted to cash the second check at a different bank branch.

Through investigation, NOPD Second District detectives developed Barber as the perpetrator and obtained a warrant for his arrest for simple burglary and two counts of access device fraud.
