UPDATE: NOPD Locates Person of Interest for Questioning, DNA Swab in Homicide on Hempstead Road

UPDATE: Joshua Wilson has been located and questioned in regards to this investigation, and a DNA swab has been collected.

Wilson is not wanted as a suspect in this investigation at this time. However, investigation into this incident remains ongoing.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: The NOPD is seeking to locate Joshua Wilson (DOB: 4-20-2000) for questioning and a DNA swab in the investigation of a homicide that occurred in the 5700 block of Hempstead Road on October 8, 2018.

At about 3:17 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call reporting an aggravated battery by shooting around 3:17 p.m. in the 5700 block of Hempstead Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 21-year-old adult male inside of a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed Wilson as a person of interest. Wilson is not currently wanted as a suspect in this investigation. However, detectives wish to question Wilson regarding this incident. A buccal swab search warrant has also been issued for Wilson.
