The NOPD has arrested a subject in connection with a simple burglary and simple battery that happened in the Seventh District.
On Sunday, December 24, 2017, at approximately 6 p.m. Shawn Batiste (DOB: 06-19-1980) is believed to have attempted to steal items from a business in the 9700 block of Chef Menteur Highway.
Batiste was then reportedly confronted by a store manager,who took the items from him. Batiste then allegedly took the items back from the manager during a brief struggle and then struck him twice to the right side of the head. The struggle continued and Batiste then reportedly dropped the merchandise and fled the location, but was apprehended a short time after by Seventh District Officers.
