Suspects Arrested Minutes after Burglarizing Jewelry store next to Police Station

Eighth District officers quickly arrested Donovan Griffin and Zachariah Woodruff earlier today (Dec. 11) after they were seen burglarizing the jewelry store next to the Eighth District police station.

At around 12:37 a.m., two detectives were inside the Eighth District station on Royal Street when they suddenly heard someone breaking glass. Seconds later, a citizen ran inside the station to let officers know that two men were breaking into David’s Antiques and Jewelry store in the 300 block of Royal Street.

Detectives were able to apprehend Griffin and Woodruff after they were trying to run down Bienville Street. Officers located about $10,000 worth of jewelry, a crowbar and two hammers on both suspects.

Woodruff and Griffin were transported to CLU and booked for simple burglary.
