NOPD Seventh District Officers Arrest Suspects in Armed Carjacking on Bundy Road

After a pursuit that stretched between two police districts in the early hours today (Dec. 2), NOPD officers arrested two suspects believed to be responsible for an armed carjacking that occurred minutes earlier in the 5100 block of Bundy Road.

At about 1:15 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to an armed carjacking at the location. Upon arrival, officers learned that two victims were allegedly robbed at gunpoint of their vehicle by two armed subjects. Officers immediately began canvassing the area and located the stolen vehicle. Seventh District Officers then pursued the vehicle and were quickly assisted by fellow NOPD officers. Officers pursued the vehicle from the Seventh District into the Fourth District, where the driver lost control of the vehicle in the 4100 block of Copernicus Street, rendering the vehicle immobile. Officers and agents surrounded the vehicle and took the two occupants into custody without further incident.

Arrested in the incident were Erasmo Rodriguez (DOB: 10-10-1999) and a 16-year-old male juvenile, who the victims positively identified as the subjects who stole their vehicle. Rodriguez and the juvenile male booked into Central Lockup on charges of armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated flight from an officer.

During questioning, Rodriguez admitted to police that he was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident, but that he discarded it during the pursuit. Officers searched the area where Rodriguez said he allegedly discarded the firearm, but did not find the weapon.

A photo of Rodriguez is not available at this time.
