NOPD Seeks Suspect in Armed Robbery on South Claiborne

The NOPD needs the public’s assistance in identifying and locating an armed robbery suspect.

 

Shortly before 9 a.m. on December 19, 2016, the suspect was observed taking merchandise from a store in the 2600 block of South Claiborne Avenue. When the suspect attempted to leave without paying for the items, the store manager confronted him and the suspect pulled out a knife and attempted to cut her.  He then fled the scene.

 

A nearby video surveillance camera captured an image of the suspect and it is included below.

Armed Robbery

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
