UPDATE: Suspect Arrested for Human Trafficking, Aggravated Assault

Eighth District officers quickly arrested Michael Young (DOB: 10-19-1982) today (Dec. 5) at around 5:49 p.m. during an active search in the district. Officers Shanay Howard, Miles Guirreri, Sgt. Roy Guggenheim and Lt. Sandra Contreras spotted Young sitting on a bench near the Hilton Riverside hotel in the Eighth District. Officers were able to place Young under arrest without incident.

 

During the arrest, Young was found in possession of a loaded 40 caliber handgun, an extended magazine and a small amount of marijuana.

Young had been booked accordingly into Central Lockup.

The NOPD is looking for a suspect wanted for human trafficking and aggravated assault.

 

On November 18, 2016, the victim reported that Michael Young (DOB: 10-19-1982) forced her to accompany him to New Orleans from San Antonio, Texas, at gunpoint. The victim stated she was forced to solicit for prostitution on Bourbon Street and other areas, and that the suspect pointed a handgun at her and threatened to shoot her when she refused to walk on Tulane Avenue.  The victim was able to escape to the 700 block of Bourbon Street on November 24, 2016. 

 

Eighth District Detectives and local FBI agents worked together to positively identify Young as the perpetrator.
