NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide on Chef Menteur Highway

The Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) arrested Cornell Brown (DOB: 03/09/1986) today (Dec. 7) for a homicide that took place in November.

 

At approximately 1:33 p.m. on November 20, 2016, officer responded to what was believed to be a traffic accident with an injury in the 6200 block of Chef Menteur Highway. Upon arrival officers discovered an unknown black male suffering from a gunshot wound. A black Ford Expedition was on the curb with a missing tire and the back window was shattered. The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

 

The Coroner’s Office determined the man's death to be a homicide. During the investigation, Brown was developed as a suspect in the homicide. He was apprehended today in the 2700 block of Peniston Street and transported to Central Lockup. His booking photo is included below.
