NOPD's increased traffic enforcement in high-crash corridors has yielded hundreds of citations ultimately resulting in safer streets.

The targeted enforcement is being conducted by the department's Motorcycle Platoon and has resulted in 1,200 citations and 196 vehicle stops across all city police districts from August 3 through August 9, 2025.

The effort comes as an answer to the community's call for safer streets and focuses on areas of citizen concern where dangerous driving behaviors have been putting lives at risk.

“Our residents have been clear—they want safer streets,” said NOPD Superintendent Anne E. Kirkpatrick. “These results show our commitment to answering that call. We’re going back to the basics—visible, consistent enforcement in the areas that matter most. We’re seeing progress, but our work is far from done. We will keep the pressure on reckless driving and stay present where our community needs us most.”

Fatality Update:

Year-to-date, there have been 32 fatal crashes resulting in 33 deaths, representing a 17% decrease in crashes and a 15% decrease in deaths compared to the same period in 2024.

The NOPD remains committed to sustained enforcement, community partnership, and education to reduce crashes and protect all who share the roads.
