The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours today (August 14, 2025) in the 2100 block of Decatur Street.

At about 3:10 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a medical emergency reported at the intersection of Frenchmen and Decatur streets. Upon arrival, officers located an unknown male subject lying unresponsive. The victim was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased on scene by New Orleans EMS.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as to identify a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
