NOPD Makes Quick Arrest in North Villere Domestic Shooting

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD arrested Joshua Joe Edwards (DOB: 2/13/1992) for a domestic aggravated battery by shooting incident that occurred today (August 8, 2021) in the 300 block of North Villere Street.

At around 5:20 p.m., the victim (DOB: 5/16/96) and her boyfriend, identified as Joshua Edwards, were engaged in a verbal altercation on the porch of a home at the location.  During the argument, the victim’s father reportedly tried to intervene, and Edwards began arguing with him. Ultimately, Edwards pulled out a gun and fired several shots striking the victim in the upper thigh area and the house.  The victim was transported to the hospital by private conveyance and is listed in stable condition. 

Edwards was apprehended about five blocks away from the scene after being found hiding underneath a house. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Criminal Justice Center and charged accordingly.
